Afternoon Shift 

(Mon - Thu 3:30 pm to 12:00 am and Fri 12:30 pm to 9:00 pm)

Our CNC LATHE Machinists are responsible for operating manual and CNC Lathe machines and all saw equipment.  This includes the set-up of jigs & equipment and the machining of required parts to specifications and tolerances indicated on production drawings and work orders.  Our Machinists are also responsible for the care and maintenance of equipment and tools used.  Providing assistance to other production areas may be required.

Your Objective:

  • Download CNC Programs; set up and operate CNC Lathe Machines with fixtures and tooling as outlined on set-up sheets; change and modify programs where applicable.

  • Maintain consistent observation and competently select, change, align, secure, and/or adjust cutting tools, offsets, attachments, jigs and fixtures while ensuring proper feed and speed for maximum efficiency

  • Perform first part and random sample inspections, ensuring quality adherence; calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments.

  • Maintain high productivity and efficiency; plan and proactively prepare for next job(s)

  • Practice safe work habits; perform routine preventative maintenance; clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment; maintain a clean/organized workspace.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement; participate in update and maintenance of set up sheets as well as root cause/corrective action analysis.

Success Requires:

  • 3 plus years' CNC Lathe Machine operator experience

    • Experience in the aerospace industry an asset

  • Machinist / CNC Technology diploma, certifications or courses from a recognized post-secondary school is a requirement.

    • Having Journeyman Machinist or Red Seal designation is an asset.

  • Ability to proficiently create layouts, read and work with GD&T, engineering and production drawings

  • Ability to use all standard gaging and precision machinist measurement tools

  • Ability to change, set and identify wear of cutting tools, holders and fixtures

  • Computer literacy and excellent math skills is required; Fanuc control knowledge is a must

  • Demonstrated positive attitude, initiative, the ability to work well with others and minimal supervision.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to prioritize
